Johannes tries to understand biology by using all the tools electron microscopy has to offer, from single-particle analysis to tomography and template-matching of cellular sample. His two favorite topics are the mechano-electrical transduction apparatus that enables hearing in mammals and the differentiation and pathology of hematopoietic cells.
