Tracking particles during refinement

Forums

Dear Frealign experts,

I hope this was not asked before, at least I couldn't find any documentation about that...
How do you track your particles during classification?
Since there is no information about the original part.no in the par file after several iterations the link to the original part.no. is easily lost.

I am using additional index-files at the moment but I was wondering if someone has a different solution.

What about introducing another column into the par file?
I also tried to use the "Film" column as index for particles but unfortunately it's limited to 6d numbers...

Thanks for comments,
Tarek

I assume you are referring to tracking of particles after using merge_classes or select_classes, both of which generate new parameter files with new particle numbers. There is no way to track them other than what you already do. A new version of Frealign (as pat of cisTEM) will soon be released that changes the way particles are carried forward during classification. Maybe this will also make it easier to track them.

Hi Niko, you got the point right. Thanks for killing my hopes ;)

I am really looking forward to cisTEM, I didn't know about that tbt.
From the tutorial I can already guess you will not have cuda implementation. However I think MPI implementation would be of great benefit ;)

Best,
